Bald Eagle Haliaeetus leucocephalus L 31-37" (79-94 cm) W 70-90" (178-229 cm) Adults identified
by white head and tail, large yellow bill. Feeds mainly fish (carrion)
and sometimes on roadkill in southwest. Seen most often on seacoasts or
near rivers and lakes. Nests in tall trees or on cliffs. Range:
Most abundant in Alaska; common in winter along Mississippi and Missouri
Rivers, fairly common in the northwest. |
