Brown Creeper

Certhia americana  L 5¼" (13 cm)

Fairly common but difficult to spot; camouflaged by streaked brown plumage. Creepers spiral upward from base of tree, then fly to lower spot on another. Call: A soft sibilant see; song, a high pitched, variable see see see titi see. Range: Nests in coniferous, mixed, or swampy forests. Generally solitary, but sometimes seen in winter flocks of titmice and nuthatches.
